BIG COURT & PORTREEVE'S SUNDAY 2023

 Michelmas Big Court was held on October 2nd 2023 at which Mr Matthew Thomas finished his term as Portreeve and the new Portreeve, Mr Anthony James, was appointed as his successor. 

 In keeping with tradition the new Portreeve was carried aloft three times around the Town Hall before visiting the Public Houses of the Township to buy drinks for burgesses and well-wishers

The following Sunday is known as Portreeve's Sunday.  Guests are invited to breakfast with the Portreeve followed by speeches.  The party then attends court at the Town Hall before processing down the main street for the Portreeve's service at St Martin's Church.
